DISCLAIMER: Much of the information provided in the videos on this page can be considered exaggerated misinformation -- propaganda from Cuban Media. However, the visuals may give you some idea of what the Cuban people are experiencing. Also, if you understand Spanish, these broadcasts will give you an idea of how reality can be twisted to give the appearance of competence, concern and compassion where there is none. At the time of this writing (14 Sept 2008), reports from reliable sources inside of Cuba indicate that although electricity is slowly being restored (primarily in areas near tourist hotels and government offices): 1) the water is contaminated and although the government has made potable water available, it must be purchased; 2) donated relief food is slowly making its way into the provinces -- also for a price. Help for Cuba A good friend has an on-line web site called “Shopping
Shortcuts.” She has decided to donate all commissions from
sales to Cuban Hurricane Disaster Relief until the end of this
year. (I hope it won’t be necessary to do it longer.) So, if
you’re going to shop on-line anyway,
Donate While You Shop. Her site is:
